Icons Only: Setting a Fall Table with Mottahedeh Patterns

AUTUMN INCOMING: A welcoming spirit of infinite golden hour has arrived, and these patterns came to party.

Perhaps the most beautiful gift of the ever-changing seasons is the reminder to endlessly reinvent ourselves, be it by adaptation, transformation, or evolution. The crisp, cool Fall months help us reimagine our entire universe by means of beauty, art, and social graces. And what better way to embrace new ideas than by sharing a warm, inviting table?

To lean into this Fall influence, we set our showroom tabletops with the Libran sentiment of savoring life. After a slow (and hot!) Summer, the delightful plunge into brisk social calendars and family gatherings, balanced by our evening rituals of slowing down together is just what we need to rekindle our creative spark. Each narrative-driven Autumn to Winter tabletop aesthetic ushers in an inspired mélange of refined layers, polished grandeur, and bold ideas to get your imagination brewing as you curate your own tablescapes at home.

We hope these Fall tablescapes satiate your appetite for beauty along with all of the bounty and abundance this tender season offers. And if you can guess by now, our M.O. for playing with our plates is pretty simple: The non-essentials are non-negotiable. Party on.

FIVE TIPS FOR RECREATING THIS FALL TABLESCAPE

You know what they say, haute girls don’t gatekeep. Take notes, because we are sharing all of the details on Autumn Aesthetic #3 ICONS ONLY: featuring the heirloom-worthy Mottahedeh Collection.

Recast established patterns as your modern muse.

Whether the Mottahedeh Lace Tobacco Leaf was part of your wedding registry or you skipped the nuptials altogether and began collecting iconic patterns on your own, we salute you for having this prized porcelain dinner plate at your entertaining disposal.

Know your patterns.

The Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf, one of the most prized of Chinese Export patterns, was developed circa 1780, probably for the Portuguese and Brazilian markets, though examples have also been found in other European countries and in North America. The design shows the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant upon which a small phoenix perches bearing a flowering twig in its beak. This exact reproduction requires twenty-eight colors including 22K gold and five firings to manufacture. The joyous exuberance of the Tobacco Leaf pattern is undiminished by time. Tobacco Leaf is an authorized reproduction for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Handmade porcelain from Portugal.

The Mottahedeh Lace is a versatile pattern with its delicate teardrop border inspired by Chi’ing Dynasty (1644-1911) porcelain from China. Highlighted by bands of 22kt gold, this elegant design offers the feel of elaborate decorative detail while also being perceived as a solid design. It coordinates beautifully with other services.

Traditional doesn’t have to mean tired.

Forget boring; think beyond neutral territory when it comes to heritage-influenced tabletops.

This jewel-toned color palette was born to bloom with rich Autumn hues. When it comes to place settings, add even more spontaneity into the mix by setting the table with all three color variations of the Mottahedeh Lace Charger, available in Blue, Red, and Plum. Festive, antique glassware in Amber, Green, and Blue further complements this nostalgic remix when paired with the more modern Pure Stemware Collection.

Ground your tablescape aesthetic in earthy materials.

Copper Chargers and Cutipol Rondo Matte Flatware elegantly anchor the warmth of this tablescape without fading into the background. Hosting Tip: Chargers are never removed during a seated dinner. The salad, dinner, and dessert places are always replaced after each course is complete. Bon appetit!

Allow for generous seating.

The Farm Table allows for spacious elbow room during your meal–which also means ample room for lingering conversations. With Autumn being prime weather in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, this rental is a highly sought edition for outdoor entertaining or a rustic chic edition to a grand entertaining room. For an outdoors or rustic setting, we suggest pairing our Crossback Farmhouse chairs for a leisurely affair (as shown), but never be afraid to elevate with a more modern pairing from our Chair Collections.
