P.O.S.H. Design Series: Pop Parties

Spring Reset: The Future Requests Your RSVP

The imminent scene of color blossoming in the wild has officially initiated its energetic hold in our showroom with the Spring Designers Series. These tablescapes ask us to tune in to the present in order to savor the ways we can make life sweeter, more bearable even, especially as we continuously move through transitional times.

Spring sets the tone for art de vivre with her determined rebirth, self-invention, and most importantly, continuance. This begins with appreciating the beauty of every day and adopting it everywhere else in our lives. A penchant for such sentiments touches on pleasure and luxury–whether its food (always seasonal and scrumptious), the expression (dopamine dressing, take a bow), and another French word we’ve aspired to embody— volupt (meaning to please all of the senses). This is how we beautifully share our love language of entertaining around the table. May it be the powerful tonic you need to begin new traditions because life is too short not to break out the fine china.

Over the next two months, we will share six special designers and their unique tao of tabletop. Chic can be elusive, but with a sense of modernity and a wink at the past, each designer more than met this moment. They generously gifted us their expertise with a favorable interpretation of the kind of Spring ambiance that offers a graceful escape and ease. The images are stunning (thank you Tamytha!) but so are the thoughts behind them. Please also offer your undivided attention to the influence of the words below. Never forget, Spring is eternal for those who play. Joy is served.

NAME TO KNOW: POP PARTIES

Pop quiz: What’s bold yet approachable, enjoyable, and always lively? If you answered a Pop Parties event, then we must be maintaining the same mood crush. We love Molly and her team of four lovely planners not only for their epic execution (epic is a strong word; we stand by it when it comes to these party people) but also for the sunshine vibes they share with us behind the scenes. Their IG profile just begs the question: Why doomscroll when you could joyscroll your way through their insanely over-the-top and elegant worlds created from scratch. Spark joy, sis!

As Creative Director, Molly’s great eye for overall aesthetics dreams up unique combinations that manage to speak their own language while remaining in conversation with one another. Every Pop Party has these elements regardless of the theme. It’s a special visual language that pulls you in with verve while letting you soak it up with ease. Only a baton twirling Majorette could capture an event's essence with this kind of skill.

Thank you for spinning plates with us, Molly and team. Without further adieu:

TABLE TALK

First things first, tell us a bit about yourself for someone who may not be familiar.

I’m Molly Rasmussen, owner and Creative Director of Pop Parties. Our team of 4 lead planners specializes in wedding and event planning and design. We thrive on creative detailing to reflect our couples and we believe that more is always more. A fun fact? I was a national baton twirling champion when I was young, and have always known I wanted to be in the events field. My high school yearbook literally says “call me to plan your wedding” in my senior goodbye note.

How do you let a table tell a story?

First, through a perfectly set table. The story doesn’t matter if the etiquette and execution aren’t also on point. Otherwise, we create interesting layers through varying textures, complementary patterns, and as much color as clients will let us. Most importantly, we try to never repeat the same design twice, and as always #moreismore

What inspired this design?

My favorite flower is the coral charm peony, and summer is my favorite season, so a citrus tabletop seemed fitting for some fun summer soiree inspo!

What is your favorite piece on this table and why?

The standing topiary place cards. I love any 3D element which adds dimension to traditionally flat tablescapes.

Who would you want to bring to this table?

A handful of girlfriends with a few bottles of Veuve-Clicquot to create a whole lot of conversation and laughter!

Best piece of hosting advice?

Serve a meal that makes guests feel comfortable.

Best way to find you and the other collaborators on this table?

You can find us online and on all major social channels, but are most active on Instagram! Follow us @pop_parties

Other Collaborators who we love are:

Print Materials - Rosanne Beck Collections

Floral - Petals Couture

Chandelier - Party! Dallas

Upcoming events you are excited about?

We have some really stunning weddings in the pipeline for spring that I can’t wait to share, but ultimately I’m a sucker for a good theme! Our team has an upcoming Barbie party (planned by our sweet Taylor) and a summer camp-themed event (planned by our newest team member Jesse) at a client’s ranch will be so fun!

RAPID FIRE (1 word or 1 sentence)

My biggest source of inspiration:

Luxury hotels, restaurants, and window displays for fun brands.

Dream collaborator:

Rishi the Designer and Julie Junk.

Song that always makes the playlist:

Anything by Drake.

What do you most look forward to this year?

Growing our team and expanding our services to even more wonderful clients!

THE CLOSE UP

Tablescape Vibe:

Get into the groove 🍊 We love a citrus air on a quintessential Spring styled tablescape. Often used in floral arrangements and tabletop designs as aesthetic embellishments, it thoughtfully considers the coming Spring/Summer by asking you to revel in the casual, carefree spirit of warmer days ahead.

Palette + Pattern

Vivid orange dimensions carry a certain voltage while floral motifs on Spring patterns exude warmth and intimacy, tying in the entire table with peak placement and mad dashes of color.

Conversation Piece:

We’re setting (and seeing) things in a whole new light under this coral chandelier (Shout out to Party! Dallas Rentals!) This fixture leaves us with a feeling of largesse, reveling in life’s simple pleasures that amuse and delight.

Table + Chair:

Sit back and enjoy the scenery 🌳 Kartell’s Ghost Chairs, shown here in Amber, have been making a deep-seated comeback. Soft yet sturdy, they gently reflect rather than compete with the tablecloth and place settings.

Dress Up:

Lighten the mood ☀️ Next-level layers always meet the more is more moment. We say go hard in the direction of coastal grandma chic: Think layered linens, pearls, and dashes of gold for an elegant ‘fit that feels made for a sunshine state of mind regardless of location.
