P.O.S.H. Designer Series: Hunter Orcutt Events

You are cordially invited to our first ever P.O.S.H. Designer Series. We’re celebrating the beauty of gracious entertaining with the well-considered tabletop, from china and cutlery to personal touches from the names to know in event design. Visit digitally on our website to find a new designer featured every three weeks, or experience them all first-hand with a scheduled visit to our showroom now through the end of May.

Our moments around the table are always intimate, no matter the size of the party. Even if the only guests are family and friends who don’t need impressing, an elegantly composed tabletop nostalgically elevates the experience and allows everyone to relax–something we all need in the monotony of forced isolation. We are born china collectors, but the added beauty of rentals allows an opportunity to express every side of our personality or embrace a theme. To celebrate the transformative power of tabletops, we called in local event design experts (who also happen to be preeminent hosts themselves) to handpick their favorite rentals for a tablescape that lightheartedly speaks to this moment. Whatever the occasion, these tastemakers have perfected the art of mixing exceptionally styled tablescapes for clients from Dallas to Italy, and everywhere in between. We ADORE the designs–tablescapes that impress not just because they’re gorgeous, but because you feel the fun and passion in the selections. They will transform you into a place and time. Enjoy. P.S. A very special shoutout to Tamytha Cameron Photography, who always captures every layer to perfection.

NAME TO KNOW: HUNTER ORCUTT EVENTS

You know a Hunter Orcutt Events bride when you come across them. No, they don’t pick out the exact same rentals or have the exact same style. You recognize them because they end up best friends with their planner, waxing poetically about her attention to detail and emotional depth before and after their big day. That planner is Hunter. Scroll through her IG feed, and you’ll find a mix of personal and professional musings that will have you wanting to be BFFs with her, too, or at the very least book her for your bridal dreams.

Moody vibes and nature-inspired elements? Yes, please. We love Hunter's ability to transition a warehouse into a tangible dream of textures and colors or a backyard into a romantic wedding on even the smallest budget. When we asked Hunter to design a Spring tablescape, she brought a mix of nostalgia and Southern sensibility which merged into one of our favorite takes on the boho neutral palette. This tablescape is for anyone letting go of the past and stepping into their future. It takes work and layers to look this effortless, honey, and any Southern lady would agree. We lovingly nicknamed it Hunter Becoming, as it has a timeless place to bloom all year long. We can’t wait to see where you go next, Hunter. But for now, let’s dive into this delicious Southern affair.

TABLE TALK

First things first, tell us a bit about yourself for someone who may not be familiar.

I’ve always loved planning, from the small details of what I’m wearing to work, family vacations, or what our daily schedule will look like. The desire to execute excellence is what I strive for when I plan any event. I know what it is like to take a small budget and make it look like a million-dollar production. I also know how to manage any unforeseen or unexpected details that may arise before or during your special day. After all, if it’s your wedding day or child’s first birthday, why should you be scrambling to finalize last-minute changes? YOU SHOULDN’T. I can promise you those issues will fall on me. All you have to do is sit back, take a deep breath, and enjoy your day.

What do you want someone to remember about their event?

I want you to look back on your event and remember the friends that showed up, the conversations you had with them, and the life moments that we all live for. I want to make your day unforgettable.

How do you leave the world behind?

If you follow Hunter on Instagram, you know this is a gal who loves her sports. She may be an Arkansas native with a love for Texas, but she bleeds crimson for her Alabama Crimson Tide.

Big changes from 2020?

Hunter’s beautiful family of three (a four-year-old daughter and her husband Alan) can now call Hunter Orcutt Events a true family affair. Alan officially joined the bridal bandwagon this summer. You can follow him @alanorcutt Honestly, they’re just the cutest.

What inspired this design?

Hunter recorded a video (check out our IG stories) on the how’s and why’s of this Southern tablescape. Simply put, the softy, airy textures and easy palette feel like home.

What is your favorite rental piece on this table and why?

The Concrete Gray Collection makes its way into several of Hunter’s tablescapes. The versatility of the matte porcelain concrete finish makes it a versatile accent piece whether you’re playing up the romance of an urban landscape or a nice natural element to balance out a feminine tablescape.

READY FOR THE CLOSE UP

Tablescape Vibe: Beautifully (yet softly) textured like a true Southern charmer. She’s a beaut, that one; but she’s certainly more layered than just a pretty tablescape.

Palette: A softer approach to seasonal whites with a nostalgic mix of neutrals: cream, jute, ivory, concrete gray, and linen. Be still our hearts–summer has arrived.

Conversation Piece: The majestic plumes of perennial pampas grass make a striking silhouette from across the room while the glass dome offers an intriguing element to an inspired menu.

Table and Chair: The light and airy vibe translate into seating with the smooth curves of our wishbone-inspired, mid-century modern Denmark Chair. Literally, it’s like a hug every time you sit down.

Dress Up: We’re definitely feeling the Hunter Bell style (and not just because they share the same first name.) When you dress in this Texas gal’s designs, you’re at once romantic and feminine without forgoing sophistication. Confident and ladylike, yet authentically your own. Bonus, if you’re like Hunter Orcutt and can dress your little one in the same styles à la Harrison Bell.
