AN AUTUMN AESTHETIC: PATTERN AND COLOR MEET THE CONTEMPORARY COOL OF CONCEPTO.
The weather may not be cooperating just yet, but we are in the Southern Fall spirit nonetheless. And you know what that means, a chic change of scenery in the P.O.S.H. showroom. Our North Star while designing each table has been divine direction – an artful ease into autumnal abundance, shared ceremoniously for the harvest and holiday seasons. And remember, just being alive is a special occasion. Set the table accordingly, dolls.
It takes a village to bring tablescapes together–truly! We have planners, designers, clients, caterers, and florists all working together to create something remarkable. This year, we decided to breathe new life into our favorite patterns with the help of three incredible Dallas-based floral designers: Concepto, Bottega de Flores, and R. Love Floral. The results were extraordinary.
First up, the unbelievable bespoke floral of Concepto making magic as it meets Mottahedeh fine china.
THE MUSE: PATTERN BREAKER
November babes, unite. This table is set for the optimistic sort. She lives for understanding a new POV, is wonderfully unconventional, but is so open and grounded, everyone feels celebrated at her table.
Big Three (IYKYK): (NOV) SAG SUN | AQUARIUS RISING | TAURUS MOON
Celebrating: A spirited Day of the Dead dinner party, perhaps a finalized divorce with the besties, Thanksgiving with her chosen family, but overall an all-encompassing appreciation for the seasonal rituals that sustain us all.
Deep Dives On: The Phoenix Rising from the Ashes, Nicole Kiman, Monarch Migration
Personal China Collection: La Double J
Her P.O.S.H. Picks: Mottahedh Sacred Bird (because obviously) and Tobacco Leaf
Her Mantra: “You were made for this.”
THE DYNAMIC DUO: CONCEPTO X MOTTAHEDEH
I was inspired by the concept of color and texture, and really wanted to create this movement of wind going through the wheat and creating a wave. I also wanted to incorporate the flowers and fruit, but in a different way than you normally see it. The cancles and spheres give the Concepto look, which is very unqiue in how we play with structure and texture. We spray painted the hydrangeas copper to play into the natural palette while creating more a more modern look. Then, we added color with Amarnthus and pops of orange citrus to pair with the china and line." Pablo Arellano, co-founder and lead designer of Concepto.
The Florist: Fall’s nostalgic leanings come full circle with Concepto, the floral masterminds with high fashion backgrounds who tend to turn every centerpiece into art. We wanted to romanticize Fall traditions, and Concepto nailed the concept by bringing the visual intrigue of amber waves of wheat to the table.
The Process: Because of its complexity, the labor-intensive process of firing, glazing, and hand-painting the Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf can take a full week. Likewise, the intricate, three-dimensional floral design by Concepto took over sixty hours to weave by hand into a statement-making centerpiece. This reverence for tradition, accentuated by a desire to innovate–that continuity is powerful. This design reminds us that great traditions can evolve while remaining deeply rooted in heritage.
The Tone: Jewel tones and natural textures. Think rich and layered, grounded by organic elements, highlighted by silhouettes that give shape and style in the best way–with a natural confidence.
THE TABLE: GLORIOUS REINVENTION
This tablescape serves as an invitation to enjoy the landscape of nostalgia through a modern lens by embracing the soft staying power of beauty alongside our woven traditions.
The Charger: The Sacred Bird and Butterfly by Mottahedeh
Besides being a beautifully charger, this brilliant piece of porcelain is steeped with symbolism that speaks to this specific moodboard. The glorious gold and orange design reminds us of the meaningful Mexico Marigold, a distinctive bloom throughout November and Día de los Muertos. Likewise, the seasonal migration of the Monarch through Texas into Mexico during late Fall feels seasonally appropriate for this tablescape, as well as the transformative rebirth of our muse. May her sacred story continue.
The Dinner Plate: The Tobacco Leaf by Mottahedeh
Twenty-seven colors and 22K gold make up this timeless design, featuring a small phoenix bird perched on the flowering leaves of the Nicotiana plant–aka tobacco leaf. Traditional, timeless, and a true tabletop stunner, it’s the perfect top layer for our Pattern Breaking muse.
The Glassware: The Carrie Wine Collection | The Carrie Cosmo Collection
We could wax poetic all day about our exclusive glassware rental collaboration with Saludi. The subtle peach and bold midnight blue wine and cosmo glasses are the perfect contemporary accents that lend to the underlying Aquarian spirit of the table.
The Flatware: Cutipol Rondo Matte Gold Cutlery
This is a straight Taurus influence. The beauty and weight of the Cutipol design bring a balanced, sensual nature to the place setting. We took a modern approach to styling them, just for fun.
Jewel tones in a slightly unexpected pattern for Fall? Groundbreaking, indeed.
