Part 1: Pantone's 2021 Colors of the Year

Part 1: Pantone’s 2021 Colors of the Year

What can be said about 2020 that hasn't already been said? We all experienced setbacks and silver linings, to say the least. We were able to slow down and witness the world in a way that we never had a chance to before. We felt all of the things, right alongside the hardworking wedding and event industry who made us proud each step of the way. Last year’s realizations made the conversations around our tables a little more real, the lingering with loved ones after the plates cleared a little more necessary, and above all, our passion for setting the table an even more joyful act.

Now in 2021, we find a compelling metaphor in Pantone’s picking of the color of the year. An annual hue trendcasters always threw weight behind now guides us to begin anew with not one but two colors. Pantone describes the colors as follows: “Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray paired with Pantone 13-0647 Illuminating, two colors that highlight how different elements come together to support one another. Converting a message of subtle strength and hopefulness, a marriage of color that is both enduring and uplifting. Practical and rock-solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this union is one of strength and positivity.” Ah, stronger, brighter days ahead. We’ll raise a glass to that.

Everything Is Illuminated

“As people look for ways to fortify themselves with energy, clarity, and hope to overcome the continuing uncertainty, spirited and emboldening shades satisfy our quest for vitality. PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power.” (Pantone)

"Illuminated" feels like the sun breaking through the clouds on our face during an alfresco lunch with loved ones … the earliest hint of sunset cascading across a family place setting for a wedding or birthday but with special additions to make this moment feel at once familiar yet extraordinary … and a compellingly beautiful nod to a brighter future, encouraging us to celebrate joy any time it shows up. Obviously, it warms our hearts, and we’re sure it will yours, too.
